Research of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology
The faculty’s scientific competence primarily focuses on the following research fields:
- Micro- and Nanoelectronics
- Systems and Control Engineering
- Energy Technology and Energy Systems
These fields of competency, in accordance with the expertise and scientific strengths of the faculty, cover a wide scope ranging from materials and individual devices to systems. This broad range of content is the foundation for the faculty’s scientific success, since it gives each field access to the latest findings of the others. Thanks to this broad research base, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering & Information Technology (ETIT) is active in all core research areas at the TU Wien.
The TU core research area „Energy and Environment“ is supported by all five research fields of the faculty; „Information and Communication Technology" is in the focus of the research field Telecommunications and Systems and Control engineering. Our research fields System and Control engineering, Telecommunications and Nanoelectronics contribute to the core research area „Computational Science and Engineering“. The core research area „Materials and Matter“ is one of the important activities of Nanoelectronics and Photonics. From these two research fields significant input is provided for the TU core research area „Quantum Physics and Technologies“.
